Robotic Nephrectomy - Partial Nephrectomy

Robotic Nephrectomy and Partial Nephrectomy applications characterize two different surgical operations performed as a result of kidney cancer. Both operations are performed in kidney cancer surgery. The difference between Robotic Nephrectomy and Partial Nephrectomy operations is the removal of the entire kidney and surrounding adipose tissue with cancer development in Robotic Nephrectomy. In Partial Nephrectomy surgery, it is aimed to remove only the area and surrounding cancerous tissue, while it is essential to protect the healthy kidney tissue at the maximum possible level. Both applications can be successfully performed using the Da Vinci Robot within the framework of robotic surgery techniques. Kidney cancer is among the types of cancer with a very high treatment possibility in early diagnosis, and patients can be restored to their health with surgical operations and treatment applications following surgical operations. As a result of modern medical practices and developments in medical technology, Robotic Nephrectomy, and Partial Nephrectomy have become the most preferred applications of recent years with low side effects and high success.

Kidney Cancer

Kidney cancer occurs as a result of cell anomalies in the kidney. As the cells that should die do not disappear, and the newborn cells form an excess of cells, the accumulated cells bring the cancerous tissues together. In this way, cancerous tissue formation begins, and kidney cancer develops. After the kidney cancer is examined with imaging methods, detailed analysis is performed with biopsy studies. After this diagnostic process, the treatment process takes shape, and Robotic Nephrectomy or Partial Nephrectomy surgical operations can be applied. The operation to be used varies according to the size and location of the cancerous tissue. In the period following the surgical operations, the treatment process continues with non-surgical treatment applications.

Da Vinci Robot

Da Vinci Robot is a very successful medical technology that performs robotic surgical operations. In operations performed with the Da Vinci Robot, the procedure is completed through tiny incisions. It provides high success with meager side effects compared to traditional methods. The Da Vinci Robot is realized with a robot that the operator doctor manages on the console. Thanks to this device, hand tremors are not a disadvantage, and the function of the robot's wrist movements are 4-5 times a human. Therefore, very effective results are obtained in narrow areas. Moreover, while using the Da Vinci Robot, doctors can easily control the console even while sitting, thus increasing concentration on the operation and reducing fatigue effects.

Robotic Nephrectomy and Partial Nephrectomy

Robotic Nephrectomy is the process of completely removing the kidney with cancerous tissue together with the surrounding adipose tissue. Robotic Nephrectomy is the technique used in cases where cancerous tissue is at more advanced levels. Since traditional methods require cutting the abdominal wall completely, Robotic Nephrectomy offers meager side effects and short operation time. Because the operator, who operates through tiny incisions, completes the operation through these small incisions and the life quality of the patient decreases considerably. Robotic Nephrectomy is performed under general anesthesia. During the application, the patient can be placed on his side or his back, depending on the position of the cancerous tissue. Then, the operation starts over the small incisions opened.

Partial Nephrectomy operation is a surgical procedure used in kidney cancer cases where the entire kidney is not needed yet. Even if a single kidney is functional enough to maintain human health, this method is preferred if it is possible to remove cancerous tissue and protect the kidney. Partial Nephrectomy is performed through small incisions, just like Robotic Nephrectomy. The application is performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, first of all, the blood flow to the kidney is stopped, and the previously determined cancerous tissue is removed by protecting the kidney tissue. Then, procedures are performed to ensure the continuity of kidney functions, and the surgery is terminated.
