Today, obesity is not considered as a cosmetic problem, but as a complex metabolic disease with long-term adverse effects on multiple organ systems. Due to its complex metabolic infrastructure, the application of different diets, which are frequently advertised in different communication channels, may be ineffective and/or harmful to the patient.
What is obesity?
Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health. A body mass index (BMI) over 25 is considered overweight, and over 30 is obese.
